Biography
Erich MacLean is a dedicated computer engineer specializing in artificial intelligence and predictive modeling. After earning his undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Guelph in 2023, he pursued a master's degree in Engineering (expected 2025), focusing on AI-driven vehicle collision prediction. His research aims to enhance road safety by accurately forecasting collisions and using model precision to determine optimal warning distances and time thresholds.
Beyond technical expertise, Erich values interdisciplinary collaboration as a core strength in engineering. He has worked as a lab technician in the DRiVE lab at the University of Guelph, contributing to an interdisciplinary team of engineers, computer scientists, and psychology students. Additionally, his experience as a teaching assistant allowed him to assist and instruct like-minded students, sharing knowledge and fostering growth in the field.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Erich has been training in Five Animal Shaolin Kung Fu at the Waterloo Kung Fu Academy since 2009, earning his First Degree Black Sash in 2022. He regularly trains, performs choreographed sets, competes in tournaments, coaches multiple teams, and teaches on a weekly basis. He is also an avid road, gravel, and mountain cyclist, enjoying both the physical and mental challenges that come with the sport.
